In this video I tell you the main reason why I do not want to be a wedding photographer. I will get into the reasons why soon but for now I wanted to tap on that subject and do a live edit at the same time.
To me it all boils around the idea that the client is, by default, the most difficult client one can possibly have. When working with corporate clents, we work with people that have been working on a project for maybe several months but in the case of a wedding photographer the client (which is for all intents and purposes the bride) has been working on this dream project for her whole life.
To put it briefly, wedding photographers are well paid and they deserve every penny.

hey you two burners we're live I think I'm live I'm live I'm live I am la if I am live hey YouTube bad sister shot gains from jacques gains photography and today i think i'm gonna talk to you about a couple of things and let me take my earphones on i'm going to talk to you about a couple of things today and i think it's gonna be kind of cool i'm going to talk to you about why I'll never do weddings and I'll edit Melissa a tiny bit now I'm not gonna get too much into the details as to why I'd never shoot weddings cuz I actually want to do a full video on the fact that I won't shoot weddings but I just want to talk about the primary reason why I'll never shoot weddings and it all boils down to this guy's the biggest problem with the wedding is the client first of all if you're a photography a photographer and somebody calls you to do a wedding make no mistake your client is not the groom it's the bride and you're talking about a client who has been working on their project well when you let's say when you work with a corporate client they've been working on a project for the last three months and you go in and you photograph an event or something like that so you're doing event photography da da da but when you're working with a bride you're working on a project that they have been working on all their lives and I'm not kidding this is no joke many and I'm not saying I'm not classifying that all brides are like this but many brides have had this dream of this event all their lives there's photos here what it's like for someone to do wedding shoots now here's the other thing before I finish this little statement I make before I start editing melissa is that I say this with all admiration respect and fascination at the person who does do weddings and these people that do it make people's dreams come true now that being said for now I don't feel I'm at the state where I can accept that responsibility to do something for a wedding client but I do send out all my respect to those people who are capable of doing a wedding so maybe the title of this video will be why why I don't why I don't do weddings but it definitely is something that fascinates me and something for now I don't feel I'm ready for it so that's all I wanted to say there and now let's go into the live at it let's do a live at it guys we're gonna do a live at it today I think we're gonna do a live at I did a shoot yesterday literally yesterday and that's yesterday night and I shot Melissa she said well why don't you come over we're gonna shoot on the roof we can do some cool stuff I'm going to paint myself cuz I guess she saw a couple of Instagram posts and stuff like that and she said let me paint myself so let's go into Lightroom and I'll show you what we did so far might as well tell you what I was shooting with I shot with the Fujifilm xt2 and I also used the 52 140 but if I look at the metadata on this if I'm not mistaken on this camera this camera right here on this shot right here oh look at that I'm using the 56 millimeter at one one thousandth of a second at sunset on the roof of a place in Lima around here and I'm at F 1.2 because I definitely wanted that bokeh and that blurry background therefore I just wanted to mention the equipment I was using so you guys knew so let's go through an edit now I started learning Lightroom and so whatever I do here guys you know it's all from again phlearn again I always talk about Fleury should pay me some money for all the advertising I do but I've been learning how to use Lightroom from Florin I've been using bridge for years and bridge is just not cutting the mustard and I'm finding out that Lightroom for collating at least for organizing which is where I'm at in the after is pretty darn amazing so anyways so I flagged a couple of shots here there's a lot more there's well over a thousand then I took that that time and I wanted to go through them really quick so here my choice is now I'm looking at this and I love the pose and I want to go in here a bit and show you what's happening and why I'm not gonna pick this shot I'm not gonna pick this shot because there's a bit of blur going on it's not completely in focus and there's a bit of shake I think right here on the cheek is where you see that it's actually in focus next shot right here here's a shot that looks very sharp I love her eyes and that's it so at the same time at the same time I'm gonna edit this I also want to go through my whole choice process you guys can see how I choose whether I choose the right one or not it's all a question a taste but I'll at least tell you why I choose the ones I do so here are the shots that I shot that night the ones I you know I treated this one unfortunately right away it looked this is the one I started working on but it's not the one I'm gonna pick today just to be in all fairness okay here's a nice shot now there's two things that happen you have the actual moment and the actual look and of the shot so this one right here kicks ass now in what case what I picked this shot even though it isn't in focus is that and why I put it in this list is that it is fantastic the way she's posing the position of her fingers the look she has right into that lens is really crazy and I like it odd so there we go that's the other shot here's another shot here's another shot here's another shot differences are albeit very very subtle what's really nice about this last one right here is the way the hand goes right here over here as well this technically is just beautiful the lighting is like literally perfect but I think I'm gonna today I feel sexy and I want Melissa to feel sexy so I'm gonna go for this one which is near the beginning as you can see right here I am gonna pick this one right here you guys I think what I'm gonna do really quick like is I'm gonna go pause my backup just so pause for an hour is fine right it because I'm losing my bandwidth there comes back you know okay so anyways so this is the picture I'm going to take I'm gonna show you the let it load let it load it's relatively sharp it could actually be sharper if I go to this shot right here I think it's a tad sharper and let it load there we go now they're about the same about the same yeah what's really nice about this is I believe Melissa's mouth is just crazy on this shot so we're gonna go for this and I'll edit it really quick like so you can see what I do okay so here we go I will edit so first thing I do is I look at my shot and I go to the develop module in Lightroom let's go effect this a tiny bit I like the temperature already this was at sunset so it's very warm and yellowish but you can first of all affect your temperature I got nothing here is where I got black that I can go sample to get that's the actual white balance that's not what I saw that day so I'm going to improvise my temperature this is giving me a temperature that's way too warm and the actual temperature as shot is a bit too cold so I will manually pull my slider to a temperature I like which I believe in between my tent I will leave I will not touch exposure let me just bump it up a tiny bit that might be nice I like to crash my blacks so I like to make these blacks absolute and the blacks enter hair more absolute so I like to crash in here what you're doing when you're bringing this down is you're taking those black pixels that black and you're accentuating and bringing the range to which black is absolute larger as you pull back down on that let me go into that's what I'll do there I'm gonna play with the contrast a bit using curves pull this up a bit pull this down and I'd like to get this blue out a bit more and a bit more of the red and the yellow here isn't showing as much probably because of the temperature I chose chose to chose de CH o se D chosed that's a word okay so if I boost the yellow here let's see what happens that's an absolute boost it's kind of nice I know my slider is crazy but it's kind of nice when I boost that the red as well will not touch orange let's go back to our temperature see what happens if we pull this towards the cold again oh that's really nice color contrast is a lot of fun there so I think I'm gonna leave it like that that's about it for now I'm gonna play with my saturation a tiny bit you now there's a difference between human saturation I believe one of them protects the skin tones and the other one does not what's really fun in Lightroom is that you can play with the where you want them in the highlights and where you want in the shadows I'm not there yet guys at an expert at doing that sharpening I don't think we need to do any sharpening here it's already done why play around with sharpening in post when as shot you have some nice sharpening so that's kind of cool okay there you go remove chromatic aberration let's take that off and see how much chromatic aberration you get on a 50 to 140 I mean the 56 millimeter that image barely moves what happens is when you when you do have chromatic aberration and you press that you click this little button here the image should it goes it goes it looks like it's getting sort of unfolded like a piece of paper because there's a bit of distortion on the sides here but with the 56 millimeter there's like literally almost none so removing is not gonna change much I like what I see here now I'm at the stage guys I do not do much more developing within Lightroom so I do right click here and go edit in Photoshop cc so let's open up Photoshop CC Adobe Creative Cloud Photoshop CC this video is brought to you by absolutely no-one if you feel like dealing with no one make sure I'll leave a link below to the actual place where you can go and deal with more and it's got a kill time because I gotta get this up here there we go so now here we are in a Photoshop a place where I'm a lot more familiar I will take my background and duplicate it which means ctrl J to duplicate it or you can go to your layer and duplicate the layer right here but I duplicate it here I will call that layer main okay now there's so much color and drama already happening here that I don't know if I'm going to a lot I mean what I am gonna try is a crop I'm going to try a crop pull that in a tiny bit because what happens here is first of all I will do a 5 7 4 5 yeah I like 4 or 5 I'm a big fan of getting closest to what is square just it's just a personal thing I understand now you guys might not like it but in this case the star is a bit the background so we're gonna go for 5 7 five seven I'll get that background in there and so from here from Melissa's arms and I'll crop out if you believe a crop isn't important you're crazy that's it's that it's plain and simple so there we go so I will crop here there's the look I get get my attention more towards Melissa and her beautiful eyes now what I think I will do is I will next step what will I do here I'm going to go in and enhance the eyes I'm gonna do it a bit differently today this is a weird archaic way of doing things but I kind of like it what I like to do is I go here I create a layer and I go to my paintbrush I go to my palette and I go sample the color of the eyes when ya cancel let me zoom in first I pick up her eyes here sample a color the eyes so that my paintbrush will be the same color as the eyes go get that lightest color now what I'll do with that palette sometimes is that I'll bring it a bit up you want to stay within of that color palette I'll take the paintbrush and I'll dump the whole load right on that layer I'll go over to the mask and I'll create a mask now the mask hasn't done anything yet but what I do now is I invert this mask and the mask is black so whatever if I use my paintbrush and I paint white inside the mask this color will appear at those points so obviously I'm gonna go to my eyes and I'm gonna paint in a tiny bit here just see I'll paint in just a bit a tad okay let me see my brush see my flow is low and the actual opacity now I want to also mention a disclaimer now a little sorry for everybody somebody mentioned the other day as in the comments that I was showing a group and changing its opacity and what I should have been saying was Phil and because the person says there's a big difference between opacity and fill and they are right they are right I should not interchange those two terms and I will stop doing it the differences between the two I would like to get into right now but I think the best thing to do is to just go on the web and check it out but I will leave credit to the person below who gave me that piece of advice now as you can see nothing is real about that that looks a bit crazy but what I have done is painted in one of the colors that were there I always go and create a couple of layers I keep on calling them eyes I'll call this one eyes to go into eyes change the color of half the zoom going close fine and sample another color right here get away from the black there you go and pull that up like that okay what's really cool about this palette thing it always shows you the older color and the new color you're going for and I will do the same I will dunk the paint can inside of this notice the different tint I will create a mask by going here and creating a mask it's called eyes – I will invert that layer and I will go paint in with white on a black mask to bring in that color 53 is not enough it's a darker colors now remember that kind of speckles okay pull myself out like that now that looks kind of nice but nothing's real about that what you might want to do is take this create a group I can call it eyes okay okay well they're not what you can do is called filter take the filter make sure you go on this take that go to blur use Gaussian blur and I wouldn't go to nuts but you blur both of these filter Gaussian blur Gaussian blur over here filter blur Gaussian blur I know it's a Gaussian or Gaussian or how is it pronounced I really wonder okay next take this and use the sharpening tool now what I like to do at this point is go to the top of where my groups are made now you can pull this out put that back in as you can see this is without this is with you can pull that opacity down depending on how much you want to enhance that look I want to go full fledged okay that telephone is ringing it's there you go at the end what we're gonna do with those eyes is we're gonna sharpen them sharpen so that the little lines that appear within them are more and more you got to see these lines see we just blurred it to get the color in there enhance and the next step is to go get these little lines that define the eye and sharpen that part of the eye we're gonna do that as a finishing touch though okay cool next step is we can create a sorry about that everybody I'm just trying to get some cool stuff going here okay next step I will do here is I will do dodge and burn so for dodging burn I'm gonna want to go get highlights here darks here and probably highlight a bit I'm on a dark and and highlight some of the colors to make them pop out or not so we're gonna do some dodge and burn here and let's go and press this sorry I did that too way too quick way way too quick let me just shoot this away and start over so for dodge and burn I'm gonna use curves on this one you go into your adjustment layers and you click curves you take this little sample button you go sample the darkest area of your photo and you pull down there you go once you've done that you call this burn okay now I know you probably see where I'm gonna go with the paint after I'm gonna paint in the intensity of the paint in different spots you take the mask of that layer and you invert like that same thing with Dodge you click the curves layer you press the sample button you go find of the brightest layer which is the tip of the nose here and you brighten up call this Dodge there you go that's done and you invert the mask now I'm gonna go paint in all this stuff paint in where I want it to be darker where I want it to be lighted let's start with burn with the eyelashes and the eyebrows too funny I don't think I'm gonna get a lot of views on this but it doesn't matter you know I think fun I want it to edit it anyways that's way too dark and that is way too dark as well make sure that your brush is opacity is relatively that's cool so we're bringing out the eyebrows and the eyelashes just to give that sexy look now if you want to get really in detail which I'd like to do myself I burn the iris and I dodge the catch like okay next thing I want to do it let's see let me put these together so we can look at them dodge and burn dodge and burn okay three watching people are leaving guys I'm not that boring em I'm okay so there that's without that's wit that's without that's with let's go get the color here I'll go burn that color watch how much you're burning this is way too much now other ways you can go and enhance the actual color itself right now this is a quicker way but there are other ways that are really cool as well to get the colors out when you're doing this probably more x''b expertise and stuff like that let's look without with so it's bringing in those colors a bit more which is kind of fun okay let me go dodge some spots dodge the top of the cheek dodge it to put the nose go in here touch that catch light and the white of her eyes dodge those teeth burn those lips we can bring this down quite a bit here fingers see I'm just trying to bring out the drama of those colors and I will definitely burn the yellow sorry did I just yell there guys I'm sorry I didn't mean to be so uh nice to you guys yellow burnin here burn a bit more let's look at that zero oh man look at that without with without with guy like that a lot you know the star this photo is Melissa I mean I'm doing stuff to this photo but I have a feeling that she you know she just makes the picture look great her pose is fantastic so it just kind of looks good you know I don't have to worry about too much going to get the highlights in her hair right now just making the parts that are bright lighter and the parts that are let's go nuts on the drama huh there you go I think that's cooler without with without with nice I think I should crop a bit lower here go for crop oh sorry about that everybody don't you love that undo yeah I think I'll go for this that's a good idea very very cool I like all of that this is basically what I'm gonna do so I will press ctrl shift alt e' I'll say that again slower ctrl shift alt e' that is basically what it does is it it's what you see I'll call this noomane so everything you've done as an edit sort of locks it in but you can always take it away if you want to and work on your editable stuff if you want to go back there but I like to do this because I can apply filters and different stuff like that I'll take this shot right now and I'm going to go into the eyes and use the sharpen tool give me a second here mmm Wow what are you doing guy what are you doing what are you doing sharpen tool okay it'll zoom into the eyes let's sharpen those suckers using a sharpen I like the sharpen tool I Renee sees is another technique where he actually separates frequencies and then goes and sharpens which is probably a better way guys trust me it's a better way now you can see the sharpening happening to the eyes right here that little sharpening the thing that sort of makes the eyes pop is what's really fun there you go let me pull out just just yeah that's cool dad it's really cool let's see what out yeah that's really cool I like that I like that I will not touch much more of this I will put an iris blur he cuts ah my obsession with the iris blur is too funny I just like playing with it I mean it does what a camera does basically what the camera iris would do you're sort of simulating depth of field in post so but I want to get that attention towards iris Melissa right now Melissa you that job I don't know how to pronounce her name she is a Mexican of course if we build a wall we won't be able to actually have Melissa perform and show her talents to us anyways there that was my political statement definitely get flack for that there you go guys and now the last thing I'll do one last thing is I'm gonna go here and make this black and white Wow shot looks great in black and white to pull this up like this now you're gonna see why I'm doing this and then I'm gonna do soft light just it's just a quick enhancement I like to use and I can pull the fill and not the opacity of that down to get myself a dramatic look now this is without drama this is with I like the width the width is basically a lot of like here this zone right here the the blacks in here are crashed and everything comes in a bit stronger that's using the black and white layer soft light now remember because you're using adjustment layers and you automatically get a mask you can play with your mask and actually go make certain things intense and others not that is about it guys that's all I wanted to show you for today I hope you enjoyed make sure you check out guys melissa has there's a behind the scenes photo shoot I did with her a while back and it's pretty cool she's really flexible great artist really cool circus artist she does some great stuff and I also did a video on which lens you should by looking at the 55 to 200 by fujinon and the 52 140 there's a difference of a thousand dollars between the two so I think it's important to know when you can just go out and buy the 55 to 200 and be satisfied and when you can go get to 50 to 140 yes jgp is all about getting the shot and not only excuse me it's all about it's about getting the shot but it's not only about getting the shot it's about the journey getting there so make sure you guys like share subscribe and don't forget everybody keep on making something from nothing hey why is it live-streaming what the hell happened there
