Sports Photography (Tips and Advice):
In this video I give tips and advice for all different kinds of sports photography. I go through and give advice for each individual sport such as: baseball, softball, soccer, tennis, basketball, volleyball, football, cross country, track, and swim. For each one I discuss different places to stand, pictures to try and get, and overall picture taking strategies. I hope anyone interested in photography enjoys this informative video and learns something new out of it.

hello again and welcome back to my channel and today I'm going to doing more of an informative video as I gave some tips and advice for sports photography because for those who don't know I pretty much take pictures of all the different sports at my high school and I'm going to go through and get kind of specific advice for each individual sport but keep in mind that the advice that I give for one specific sport can also apply to other sports as well and with that let's go ahead and get on with the video so entire group is first one together which is softball and baseball and the first tip I get for that often you know they wear like hats advisors so more often than not I get them where their head is bent down and you cannot see their face if you can't see their face no one knows who they are and you know parents they want their kids face in a photo album and so with the last words and send it to me straight on try and shoot from either the side or even from a slight angle so you can kind of see past the hat that's in the front another thing to watch out for is to you know pay attention to those people who's that on the left or the right side for me a lot of the people usually down on the right there's a little few people who have two dozen left and so then I have to like you know switch sides and everything but if you are on the right side a lot of the time and then randomly on the left side if you are standing behind them you can always get a picture of them hitting it and then once their turn you get that side profile if you are standing on the other side so keep that in mind if you don't want to walk back and forth and there's nothing more specific about our baseball field is that it has a sense of all the way around and so with that I have tunisians take my camera and try and like have a peek go through one of the fence holes because otherwise my camera is you kind of fade out that sense because it zooms in too much and just kind of have it pretend it's not there but it says sometime leave some very like fading marks in the picture and it makes it look very odd but I recommend just go ahead and finding that people and lining it up golf can be kind of tricky thing to shoot especially if you do not know the game which I did not and I still only kind of know it so the biggest thing to know is kind of like the morals of golf which is don't stand in front of them stay behind them and kind of like follow along and get them as or going up the field or the green so the first tip I recommend is get there early and you know be there whenever they talk about you know like oh we're going to be doing all 18 holes and we're doing through only nine of the holes but the best technique that I've learned for taking golf pictures without getting in the way it's you know find a hole that is kind of like a long stretch and it's kind of like mainly a straight line and so you'll go ahead and start where the nose pee off and then you'll follow behind them and then you know they'll hit the ball again and you'll hit the ball again all the way up into the green and then by then you need some pictures of putting it in and then once they get done there you just walk back to the beginning and by then the next golfer will be coming around you know start that hole and then you just repeat drives on the street safest way to do it so even if they've already chewed off and they're walking to bones you can then still walk there it's only whenever people are about to hit the golf ball that you should not be in the way so if they're walking then you should be walking to saying that they saw in the softball make sure their visors in half are crossing their face and you know watch which side that they cut with so you know which way to get them and your one good way to remember that is you know kind of think of it like a rotation so if you see them cutting like this and just like oh they're balls over there so imagine rotating them that way so you know okay they're going to be facing like this whenever they put it in so I need to get on this side a little weird to explain but that's what I found best to work so I'm not like trying to rush around and they like only miss it and not a good one to the other side and to kind of pre-planned where you are going to stand whenever they are putting or hitting whatever football can be one of the hardest sports to get pictures us because it is so fast moving you know the SS helmets on it's really hard to see faces so pictures that I like to get error things like kickoffs whatever they're kind of down and like ready position in the red pepper pick ball and so besides taking pictures of just the football players you can also get pictures of the cheerleaders and you know the crowd you know the student section and everything also whenever coaches are talking to their athletes you kind of get that like a nice team circle bond there you know pictures whatever they kind of like no charge at each other do you get that a nice little side profile also sometimes right before their name they're kind of doing like warm-ups and throwing the ball back and forth to each other which is like you know riding on the sidelines which is great because you're right there there's no like other little distractions in the way another thing is to keep checking your lighting throughout the game because as the Sun is setting we're going to be getting a bunch of different tones and you know you want to make sure all your pictures are going to be nice and sharp but also bright enough so I try really focus to get as many good pitches right at the beginning whenever there is still some light out and then you know as you get started or try and work especially can become you know advocates darker settings are really hard to work with and not only that but you know whatever it does get dark in those stadium lights aren't always the best but you know just really got to work with a adjust those settings we try to find what balance works best with your camera now moving on to swimming now if it is winter swimming make sure you get there at least like 20 minutes in advance if your camera has been sitting in a cold car for like a couple hours or you know keep your camera in like a warm like heated place because if you go in there after your cameras and cold for a long time into a really hot and no swimming pool area your camera will flog up and I'm just having to move or I just littered took me 20 to 30 minutes just to get my camera back to like regular temperatures to where my pictures weren't foggy as far as pictures to get pretty much all swimming then work well except for freestyle that I found you know because you can get them whenever the head is turned into taking your breath but often then you get that you know awkward space and then also the water is splashing all up in their face and it really just doesn't make for really clear photos and so picture is like a butterfly that's great especially if you're shooting straight on at them coming that gives a great lesson to our to the back backstroke is great because you can get it from like perfect angle and you know the face is completely seen as they're swimming another one style but I don't know the exact name but I just know when I will like the Frog swim this one whatever y'all can roast me in the comments does perfect as love to get that side profiles and come up or you can get it whenever they're facing straight on the goggle you'll think so can help your pictures whenever they're about to go with their skinning stunts on the block or whenever they're like already in the water in the back to like flip back into the water you know those communica really cool as well the tightest I found to be something that you want to press the button if it had been an event in order to get that picture that you're wanting because otherwise you'll miss it especially whenever they're serving because if you're just press the bun right as their hand is going down you're often going to miss it away here and then also it's doubles you know often when if they get a point they're doing my racket size and like yeah like good job man so you know those are some really great pictures to get and so with kindness and a lot of other sports as well there so we're going to be those few people who make really funny faces or whatever they're doing any kind of actions so if you can maybe try and get pictures of them just like standing with the racket whenever there's kind of like in that position before they make some kind of unappealing face you know make sure the ball is in the picture and tie and like keep it pretty wide for the most part because if I'm too close if they pass in its close to can always crop it in later and so keeping it wide but also keeping it focused as the ball is being passed around and also great pictures to get our goalies when I was throwing it in whenever they are trying to catch it and you know depending on the game I found whatever team is usually doing better than go on that side where they're primarily at because you'll often see pictures of your team you know having the ball kinda know get the ball turned around and then also you know if your team's really grating there on the other side then you know give pictures and they're trying to like get that goal in everything but I do is pretty much I pick you know about like three spots on the course and you know I try and spread it out as much as possible so I start there and then you know all the runners still run by and then after that else go to the next spot you know you have to make sure that by the time the last person is running by at your first thought that you can get to the next stop before your first person is coming by another thing whenever you're picking responses make sure your first spot is a little bit a ways away from the starting line because if you get too close whenever they run by it's just you are not going to see your runners because they're going to be you know combined with everyone else and you don't really get a specific shot of the one person you want and so I just make sure you know spread out a little bit and you know make sure you have plenty of time in between and so pretty much whichever side that the team is coming out I stay on one of the two corners so if my team is trying to score this side I'll stay in these corners and then what's half-time is they're going for this side then I'll stand on these two horns and door in order to get those you know different angle shots whatever they're doing free stuff I like to get you know right next to the basketball so you can kind of see them as they're doing it right kind of as I like front view and then you can also get them from the side like if you can get over kind of by the bleachers and you can get them like perfectly sides as are doing that that can be a really great teacher as well another thing that's really cool is get off you know if you sometimes get it like almost perfectly symmetrical of both their hands up trying to get the ball it's looks so cool now for pictures of volleyball you almost want to do the exact opposite of what you do for basketball here's a path for you oh they're running back and forth to the outside to take shots mentally but with fall involved they're you know passing the ball back and forth in the middle and so they all are facing this way and so for what I recommend is if your team is playing on this side then you want to sit kind of right in front of the net and then two spots over so then you can kind of get that side view of everyone's going there and then you can also switch to the other side and once again just in the middle and then like to start over but you can also you know if you're standing the opposite side you can get two pictures of them the net which can be really cool you just have to watch for those make sure no one gets in the way of those and then if you have a mezzanine like Arjun has you can also you know stand up high while the game is below the next is chat and like I said before I love taking pictures of track means because they have so many different events and you can just really get a variety of pictures from this the only pictures that you make it similar up it's like whenever they're running on the track and so just always say so guys you know go to different corners as they run around and you get a different background every single time and what I like to do is you just stay on the inside of the field if you're allowed to and then you can really get either whatever they're on the inside and then if they are on one of the outside lights you know go to the other side and so you can get pictures of them so with time as well make sure you press the buttons far in advance because like the throwing you know that you're going to be turning around a lot and there's just one spot where you can see their face and you know the Shoplet or the discus in their hand and so just make sure your press button far in advance so you can they get that like multiple shots of them turning so you can get that perfect picture whoo so that is all my advice if you did like this videos and go ahead and give it a big thumbs up and if you really liked it then you should probably subscribe because you might like somebody's videos yes until next time bye
