hey folks welcome to day two on my 14-day free wedding photography course on YouTube today I'm gonna talk about albums and precisely how I sell albums in almost fully automated way now it's a quick disclaimer there's a number of ways that you can go about setting albums to your wedding couples and I'm not gonna say mine is the best or most profitable there every single system has their pros and cons and I'm gonna show you my way which is probably most comfortable for me because it takes very little time for me and produces consistent results so if you want to maximize sales with your albums the best way will be to have a process in place where you meet your couples before and after wedding and you plan ahead when are you going to design an album and and how we're going to finish it up it's proven that in person you're gonna make our much higher sales when it comes to upsetting albums but I prefer to stick to my own way of selling albums because it's pretty much automated and the communication process is all online I don't have to meet my clients so there's very little time involved in my selling process I would go as far to say that this is almost like a passive income stream on this side of not my main business now so there's a couple of challenges that comes to creating an online wedding album sales process and I'm a strong believer that we need to create an experience for our wedding couples when it comes to designing our layouts picking up the covers and getting the ID albums delivered so my sales process is broken down into two different funnels so one funnels for every couple that added an album to their packages at the time of booking me for the wedding day and second phone is only for people that went for a full day coverage without any album and I'm trying to upsell my couples with those albums after the wedding so the way I encourage my couples to to add on an album at the time of the booking is I simply offer them a base album package at half of the origin price of my album by doing that my costs of the album's are covered and I can observe my clients after wedding with additional spreads sizes and personalization of the covers now one thing about that is that you have to state that clearly that that they're adding a 10 by 10 inch album with 15 spreads and if they will be looking into an upgrade after wedding there will be additional fee for that in the past I didn't have that information and it was really awkward to answer those questions where we went back and forth with a couple and and we decided on the layout and then I said okay there's an additional charge for that and they're really surprised to hear oh how come so it's all on to clear communication and and and knowing what people are expecting from you so the second phone is for all my couples that did not add an album at the time of the booking and what I do that is I when it comes to sending my couples an online gallery with with the images in the email I mentioned that if if they wish they can avail of my special offer that if they decide to order their album in the next 60 days they're gonna receive 40% of their base base album package and then after that once I have a commitment from the couples to move the base package album so either at the time of the booking me or at the time of delivering the photos the process after that is very streamlined and very straightforward and it's pretty much automated so once I have a green light from my couples to to go ahead with the album I'm gonna pre design layouts for them now the reason for that is I can control the number of images and number of spreads that goes into the album and then the whole trick about is that if you design a 40 spread album and let's say a couple had prepaid for maybe 15 spreads at the time of the booking it's gonna be really hard for them to to to reduce those spreads once they see the album and I use peak time as my gallery provider and they do have an option for album proofs as well so all I do is I upload the spreads that I pre-designed and smart albums and my couples can go over there and place the comments about reducing the spread the spreads removing or switching and the images so the communication process is very simple and straightforward so the only work that I have to put in is the actual design of the album which takes around half an hour for for each album yes there will be some back and forth with the couples about changing the layouts and I I usually don't charge my couples for additional changes because those changes takes literally five minutes to do and I believe I charge an hour for the album's and the upsells and that with covers my time at the end once we agree the layout of the album then I ask my couple to go over the the album's page to pick their cover personalization and fill out the form which is on the very same page so again going back to the experience and ease process of ordering the album with me and actually I'm going to show you my website with pricing right now so you can actually get a sense of what my couples are seeing when it comes to ordering their album so this is the only page that I have when it comes to wedding albums and this page will be seen by both the couples that added an album at the time of the booking and that did not add the album at the time of the booking so instead of just creating one page where I throw in all the personalization bits about the covers I actually have created an experience driven website so so so so it encourages my couples to to to get an albums and and be mindful wanting this website is seen by a couple which did not get an album at the time of the booking me so I need to convince them that if they gonna get the album within the first 60 days they will be likely to go for it so I'm gonna scroll down I'm just gonna show you how my website looks and I encourage you to do the very same thing and basically I start off with just talking about why printing is so important and what may happen to your files if if your USB goes corrupt and stuff so I just talked basically about about things that that may go wrong with the images and then I I talked about my process of designing a novel and I mean I make sure that there's a lot of images of my albums as well and then I have put in a quote from Google boss and I I believe I took it from another photographers website if I remember right and then I go over to talk about is how easy it is to order an album with me and then just got about one two three step process how easy it is and and and and then I go straight over to the cover selection so as you see QT has a great selection of album covers and they're keep updating their covers and their ad they just added a new a new line of premium silks which I quite like and I had one couple already ordered and this type of covers I'm really looking forward to see how it looks and the reaction of my couple and then I took a couple of images from my supplier websites just to again just to visualize how they are going to look and just just add that experience of it's not just a book it's it's actually more than that and then I go over about the how my couples can personalize the albums and then at the end I go to the pricing and the trick over here is you have to be very specific and very clear about how you communicate your pricing so when my couples are adding albums at a time of the booking me this a Horner becomes 400 and then after after the wedding they're paying this much for additional spreads and this much for a personalization and parents albums are that much and it's interesting I had couples last year adding those parents albums and it really improved my bottom line and when it comes to that particular order and then the big thing for me is that that the order form is at the very end so again is just a call to action for them just to show them that everything is on one page and it's very easy to order an album with me so it just encourages them and gives them a chance to make a decision quickly and and jump right into ordering and their album so once they agree on the cover of the album I send in my last even saying okay the album's ready to go for print the last thing is the payment and once that's cleared I send that album for print so I use QT albums for my album orders and we usually take four to six weeks for them to dispatch the album's now QT albums are great because I can ship directly from them to the clients so that saves me time on receiving an album unpacking me checking if everything is in order and then packing back up again and gone to the post office and sending probably paying another twenty thirty or forty quid just for a shipping so it's cost effective time effective and if there's something wrong with the parcel couple with me now and I can just go back and refer to the supplier and I have put that system in place roughly around 12 to 18 months ago and I'm gonna share you some numbers how the numbers stack up when it comes to the actual sales so I'm going to analyze 2018 we're in total I sold 14 albums and that has generated my cost of producing an album on around five thousand euros and my gross revenue was around fifteen thousand which which gives our rough figure of ten thousand profit on 14 albums so you may judge okay is that a lot is that a little 10 K a profit for pretty much I don't know 15 hours work in total but the other way I look at it is that I have tripled my money so I have put in 5 K into ordering the albums and I took out 15 K out of that and when it actually comes to the time where I have to deal with the album it it usually comes up to roughly or on one hour to 90 minutes per the album design so the communication process is very easy and very streamlined so there's no questions coming back and forth about same things all the time and if you do have some questions that pop up all the time make sure to add that question and the answer on to your albums page so lastly I'm gonna show you my album and that's produced with QT so this is the album that I produced for one of the venue's and you can just see that it's it's it's absolutely beautiful and if you think about designing an album for for your couples and then showing them a layout and once they see a layout like that they'll be really really happier
