so in today's video if Carlos and I are going to show you how you can step up your photography game not only on your Android phone but also on your iPhone so basically we're gonna show you our secrets on how to take pictures that look like this and make them look like that but first I want to take a little bit of your time to tell you guys about today's video sponsor Skillshare is a large online community with over 15,000 different classes in design photography and even video production so maybe after you watch this video maybe you want to learn a little bit more about photography maybe you don't understand what is OS or shutter speed so what I'm gonna do is leave a couple of links down below in the description of classes that I think are really great not only for beginners but also intermediate users so here's the kicker the first 200 people that sign up using that affiliate code are gonna get two months free trial that's right only for the first 200 people so I recommend you sign up hurry up because there's a lot of knowledge in here and again it's a free trial you don't have to worry about anything and you can learn as much as you can trust me it's a great platform I highly recommend it so before we begin let's go ahead and jump in take a couple of pictures and show you once again how to take pictures that look like this and make them look like that so we went ahead and took some really great pictures but here's the thing I want to share with you guys a secret because I feel a lot of people still don't know about this and that's shooting in RAW raw is such an important feature on your smartphone that a lot of people don't even know it exists because with raw you're basically getting all of that made of data you're able to flex that image really push it change the ISO change the white balance basically manipulate that photo so much so I recommend you download an app called Lightroom and this works both on Android or iOS and in fact that is the application that we are going to use to show you guys how to get pictures that look like this and then make them look like that now if you guys want to follow along I left a link down below with these picture samples and you can just install this on your phone and then follow along Carlos took this dope picture and this is basically the example that he's gonna give us so Carlos take it away buddy alright guys so let's jump straight into this Lightroom map now this picture that I'm gonna show you guys at first glance you can be like oh man sundar exposed not usable at all no I shot it like this because I wanted to expose for the background so you guys can see the sky the buildings and of course the main subject is gonna be completely pitch dark but the good thing about raw is that it retains all that information and impulse we can actually bring that up alright guys so let's go straight into the light tab now you guys can see the building is completely pitch dark not the way to fix this is that we go into the shadows slider now from here if you guys mess around with it the more negative you go the darker the shadows become and the more up you go the more they start to lift up it's rebuilding the building which is exactly what we want to do so around I say 80 74 75 that seems to be the sweet spot now the next thing I like to do is I like to make my image pop a lot more I want that nice contrasting look so that's exactly what we're gonna do we're gonna add contrast so I think around 30 contrast should be fine for this building now the next thing we want to do is go into the white balance tab so right here is where you guys can actually make your image a lot more warmer or a lot more cooler now now for me I actually like to make my image a lot more warm if you guys see all my pictures are always a lot more warmer so that's exactly what I'm gonna do with this one and around I say 8000 Kelvin seems to be just fine now with the tent I just like to mess around with it just a little bit because some of the pictures sometimes are green so we're gonna bring out the magenta in them so just a little bit not too much now from here again I like my image to pop so we're gonna bring out the vibrance just a little bit to make it to make the colors pop a lot more and just a little bit more on the saturation and that's pretty much it oh and there's another tab that I like to use which is in the effects tab now this is the clarity tool now this kind of makes your image pop a lot more which is what I want exactly just don't overdo it because then the image starts to look really over sharpen and it just doesn't look good especially if you're gonna be posting it on Instagram or Facebook so I'm just gonna go around 35 and I think that's pretty much it I think we're done with this image this is the way I would edit this picture so here's a before and here's and after all right so now let me go ahead and show you guys a second image alright so let me look for one and let's say this one alright so I took this picture of an Audi rs3 and we're gonna try and recreate it with this image right here so you guys can see they're completely lead different and the first thing we want to do again is we're gonna go into the light tab now for this image I went for more of a darker kind of look so we're gonna bring down the shadows on this one just to make it more darker and then we're gonna add more contrast now here we're gonna mess around with the exposure slider so you just bring it down just a little bit and the highlights are gonna go down all the way down I believe yeah there we go alright now from here we're gonna go into the color tab and this is the image that I actually started using the more cooler temp so we're gonna go a little bit more cooler on this one just to make it look a lot more darker and we don't want to go too much all right so I see ice you can see the image doesn't look that dark so we're gonna go back into the light tab and we're gonna add a little bit more of contrast and just gonna bring down the exposure just a little bit more boom so now from here let's go into effects and add a little bit more clarity that seems to look good right there now this is another tool that's very useful it's called selective it pretty much creates eight gradient mask so you guys can do a little bit more adjustment so we're gonna bring one down from right here and you get the same tab so you get the same control over that mask so we're gonna go into the light tap and just bring it down a little bit more to make it the edges a little bit more darker and also the shadows are gonna come down just a little bit more and boom I think we pretty much got the same image right yeah look at that boom here's before and here is after now this is the cool thing about shooting in RAW it just retains all that information which is perfect when you're trying to capture a better image so I hope you guys enjoyed this video and if you did give it a thumbs up also make sure to follow Carlos on his YouTube channel he also has a great Instagram at mobile Carlos if you guys want to see behind the scenes make sure to follow me at mando bytes pretty much everywhere thanks again for watching and you will catch me in the next one adios
